Chlorophyll Kid by Gene Gonzales and Simon Gough

When the Legion of Substitute Heroes returned in�"Superman and the Legion of Super-Heroes", they all had new looks designed by Gary Frank. Chlorophyll Kid�aka�Ral Benem not only got a new costume, but he was also shown to have lost weight and gained a much healthier physique! In addition to that, his hands now glowed green and sometimes took the characteristics�of plants when he used his powers. And finally, Ral now claimed that he could talk to plants, though his teammates didn't believe him. This is another costume that Gene Gonzales had never drawn, so I was only too happy to commission him to do it! Gene delivered this amazing piece to me which looks like it belongs in a new Who's Who series, with a great shot of Chlorophyll Kid demonstrating his powers. I love those thorny plants! And Simon came in and made it look even better! Simon used a lot of different greens here, distinguishing between the costume, Ral's hands, and the plants, and yet they all look good together! I also really dig those background colors! Thanks, Gene and Simon!

Very cool! I like the face forward shot and kind of smiling expression as he uses his powers. Congrats!
