Description

Dune is one of my favorite SF books and I've always been mesmerized by the gigantic sandworms -- the source of "spice" which allows space travel and expanded consciousness. John Schoenherr defined the look of Dune with his illustrations from the 60's. But I was curious to see an new interpretation from a different John -- John Harris.

John Harris is associated with depicting MASS and SCALE with a lyrical, almost spiritual vibe. I was keen to see his interpretation of this classic beast, and hence this commission.

Fantastic! And you are spot on about Harris depicting Mass & Scale in a lyrical, almost spiritual vibe.It is always a treat to see his paintings at IlluXCon ... even the little paintings & pastels are BIG in feeling.

Love it, but I have to say the pastel steals the show! So cool to see his interpretation of Dune.
