Description

Batman #43 (1956) Ebal 1a Serie from Brazil, for the story "Os Segredos de Batman!". I am starting to list more of my existing collection, and this is the oldest piece I have currently. This cover for the first series that Ebal did in Brazil features a classic look for the Dynamic Duo. It appears that the Batman portion was partially cut out and then glued back in. Even more interesting is that there is an original Brazilian Popeye 2 panel strip on the back (see the second pic) corresponding to where the cutout appears to have occurred. I definitely don't have any other art that has done that! Pencil and ink, with lots of yellowing and age to the paper, though the images themselves are in very nice condition. And thanks to someone from Brazil, I now know that the artist is Juarez Odilon.
