DescriptionThis piece is the latest and greatest addition to what I see developing into an on-going theme of my commissions, Silver Surfer in ways you wouldn't expect; and in some cases done more or less done by artists one might not expect.Like many others, I first fell under the spell of Ian Bertrams work with my introduction to Little Bird. If you haven't read it yet, do it! Do it now! Then get to the choppa!! His style is elegant and dynamic, freeform and deliberate mixed together. You can tell he knows the rules and how to break them just perfectly suited to his incredible skills. Why the Silver Surfer? Because he is my favorite. His story is so rich and yet relatable. Who wouldnt be willing to sacrifice themselves to save the people they loved, yet alone an entire planet? It just makes him incredibly complex and fascinating to me. Plus I mean c'mon, dude has literally been across the entire universe hangin' twelve ON A SENTIENT SURFBOARD, holds infinite power-cosmic in his hands and is decked out entirely in silver! Pshh, the guys a stud lol I just wanted Ian to have free range to go all out and do whatever he wanted on this one and as far as I'm concerned he did his thing 100% and I could not be happier! I dubbed it "Crucible" just to give it a bit more of personal story for the arrows and such, I know it doesnt have to make sense but I figured it's a working title ;) Thank you Ian, and thank you Felix! Latest and greatest is certainly right. "The best" is subjective, but this is the #1 Bertram piece I'd snag if I had the choice.
