Dennis Mitchell dreams of adulthood, clinging yet to his teddy bear and mystifying his neighborhood preschool pal Joey McDonald. Originator Ketcham (in the signed inscription) clings to his identification as Dennis' "poor ol' Dad" (which he was, in a literal real-world sense). The aspect ratio suggests an appearance in one of the Dennis paperback spinoffs, as does a "Page 45" marginal notation. Ink and white-paint retouching over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 9" x 11". Aside from light foxing, the art is in Very Good condition. -- Dennis the Menace is a daily syndicated newspaper comic strip originally created, written, and illustrated by Hank Ketcham. It debuted on March 12, 1951, in 16 newspapers[1] and was originally distributed by Post-Hall Syndicate.[2] It is now written and drawn by Ketcham's former assistants, Marcus Hamilton (weekdays, since 1995), Ron Ferdinand (Sundays, since 1981), and son Scott Ketcham (since 2010), and distributed to at least 1,000 newspapers in 48 countries and in 19 languages by King Features Syndicate.[3] The comic strip usually runs for a single panel on weekdays and a full strip on Sundays. Thanks Kent! I grew up reading Dennis strips and this one really pulled on my heart strings now that I have a 2yo boy.
