Description

Many years ago, I was fortunate enough to acquire a sketchbook by the great illustrator, John Richard Flanagan. On the outside it was in poor condition, with the front cover detached and the rear cover missing, but the contents were generally fine. As you flip through it, on the left page, Flanagan generally had drawn something, while on the right page he generally pasted proofs or cut outs of some of his published illustrations. The glue on those had dried over the years, so some of those paste-outs had fallen out and were lost.

Amazingly, many years later I was contacted by the owner of the rear cover of the sketch book, and I was able to buy that as well, to reunite it with the rest of the book. The image with this post is Flanagan's illo on the inside front cover.
