Description

Original printed proof page for Sparkler Comics #21, which was published in April of 1943. This is Pg. 4 from the issue, and features the legendary Sunday Newspaper comic strip Tarzan by Edgar Rice Burroughs. It is a fantastic page with classic beautiful jungle imagery, and Tarzan featured in almost every single panel on the page! The proof measures approximately approximately 7" by 9 1/2" and is on smooth coated paper stock. It is in very good condition with small staple holes at the top corner edge, a slightly angled cut at the top, and the page has a pencil notation at the bottom right corner indicating the issue and page number. It is blank on the reverse side. This is NOT a mass-produced print or lithograph. It is a proof that is created during the production process for the comic, and used internally by the comic company. This is a very cool and rare piece of comic production art that you will hardly ever get a chance to see (please note this is a printed proof, it is not the hand-drawn original artwork). Considering the cost of original art for Tarzan Sundays from this time period, this is a much more reasonable way to own a piece of production art from one of the greatest strips in American history. This is a fantastic piece that would look great framed, and would be a key piece in the collection of any Tarzan fan.
