Description

Celebrating 13 years of our Christmas Commission Tradition, JP Leon drew this masterpiece for my brother Jim. . . and I helped! Jim and JP and I (and anyone with sense) revere Walt Simonson's work, and his X-Factor run that featured Warren Worthington III's conversion from Angel to Archangel (Apocalypse's Death Horseman) is high on that list. Combine that with Jim's and my love for JP's work on Earth X, and you can see why this commission has made Jim so happy!! Look at the sublime inking, and the fragments of steel feathers flying throughout the composition!!!Thanks again, JP, for another MASTERPIECE!

Absolutely stunning piece, my friend - boy howdy, what a brilliant commission... There is a stunningly bold sense of design that evokes Walt Simonson (of course) but is something... different. Dense, yet crisp - thanks to those knife feathers you mention that break the patterns of what might otherwise be an impressive but “un-alive” bunch of lines (if you take my meaning)... A lovely tribute that is far more than just a “cover version” of an era or artist that is loved by the artist/composer of the piece. WICKED cool, man. Congrats!
