Description

Original comic art measures approximately 11.5”x17". Pencils, ink, and ink wash on bristol board. Signed by J.H. Williams III. Dated 2011.

Please note the numbering change for the art. The original page denotes this as Batwoman #3, page 9. However, it was published in Detective Comics #856 instead.

I’m psyched as always to add another fabulous Jim Williams page to my collection as his run on Batwoman is superlative and remains an absolute favorite for me.

And although it’s not obvious - yes, an injured Batwoman is (technically) on this page. She’s been rescued and is inside the vehicle driving away in the first panel.

Every page of this run has terrific details, splendid line work, and incredible mood which just draws one in. The star here is the ethereal, mad Alice. Her lack of sanity becomes more and more apparent over time. Here we see her injured follower drop dead at her feet and she takes no notice whatsoever. The last panel showing her full figure is particularly splendid.
