Description

Fantastic Four: Road Trip is one of the books which makes me fall in love with characters. This one-shot by Cantwell and Andrade is a wild ride. I loved seeing all the individual aspects of each character coming to live by the hands of Filipe. This page embodies how I see Reed spending his days.

The etching of Andrade is so stunning on the original page. Filipe blends European and US comics so well and is on the top of my list of creators to watch. Pick up this issue and read The Many Death of Laila Starr as well.

Hard to believe Reed would leave an open window to his lab to introduce contaminants. That's high school level labwork. No wonder Doctor Doom hates him so much, Reed is the Homer to Doom's Grimes.

I can't imagine what this piece looks like in person - Andrade's scratchy inks build so much depth and emotion, which add another dimension to his storytelling. Also, big fan of how he depicted shadows in panels 6-8. We are watching a master in the making!
