My uber-talented friend & excellent all-round person has been supplying me with birthday gifts and I believe it started with this one, making it well over a decade I've gotten an amazing gift from an amazing friend.

I used to work as a clerk in a comic-shop and Eva would drop by about once a week, at which point I would yammer on and on about whatever title I was in love with at that time, or I felt she would greatly enjoy. Sandman, obviously, was among them.

The gifts are always a surprise (though I have suggested a few of the subjects) and this one is another of those perfect, amazing, gorgeous interpretations of that visually appealing character.

Eva will often be the first to complain at how poor her mastery of whichever technique she's become obsessed with is. One tries to change her mind, as I'm sure this attests: she lies!

By the way, like any artist worth their salt, she's also very into paper types, different materials and such, and this piece is on a wonderfully wavey, stiff piece of paper that feels like cloth.

That wizard's sleeve is an imaginatively fun detail. The art is sharp and the colors below sets it apart without veering off script for the character.
