From Chester on his Patreon page:
“ It was fun revisiting and revising the piece. I was particularly glad to correct the “INVASION OF THE MICRO-MEN” line at the bottom. There was a very nice young woman who worked in the Vortex office and did production work on the various comic-books published by the company. (She also handled general secretarial chores — I’m sure she must have been over-worked.) She cut the Rubylith colour separations for the cover of Yummy Fur #7 and accidentally neglected to cut out the letters for the “INVASION” line for a blue Rubylith sheet. The result is that the line looks dark brown on the cover instead of red. And it was supposed to be red.

So when I did my new painted version, I got to make the line red. (Actually, I made it red and pink, as you can see.)

In 1987, after that mistake was made on the cover of Yummy Fur #7, I learned how to cut the rubylith separations for the covers. So I did the separations for issue 8 and onward (until, with issue 25, I began painting most of the covers.)”

Wonderful re-creation. This issue was my entry point into the series.

How many of these does Chester do per year? Are they commissioned or does he just do them and put them up for sale?

When it is not possible to have the ORIGINAL, a good recreation is OK for me, I love recreations (!!!) in my gallery I have two : PRINCE VALIANT & BATMAN (!!!)
