Description

15" x 10" image area. Ink and Zipatone over graphite on Bristol board. Super-Villain Team-Up #17 page 2 original art (Marvel 1980). Arvell Jones and Bruce Patterson.

The Red Skull and Hate Monger are visited by Dr. Clinton of AIM who is to assist them in creating a new Cosmic Cube. As they go to the lab, they are briefed on the previous versions of the Cube. When the Clinton tells them that without the brain power of MODOK they won't be able to create a new Cosmic Cube, however the Red Skull reveals why he has an army of slaves: To be used as fodder to generate the brain power needed to create a new Cube.

The gang's all here! What more could you want with a trip to Red Skull's evil laboratory but to be hosted by 'Yours Truly' and Hate Monger? Appearances of MODOK and the Cosmic Cube are the cherry on top. This is the final issue of the series with the revelation that Hate Monger is a clone of Adolf Hitler and the success of Red Skull trapping Hitler's clone mind in the new Cosmic Cube.

Arvell Jones deserves a Hell of a lot more credit and love than he ever got as an accomplished comic artist!

Amazing page full of amazing villainous shots. The Cosmic Cube truly is icing atop this wonderous cake of evil. Congrats!

Jones did DC Super Villians team ups as well and had a way with showing the biggest names in their most evil schemes. This is a very nice page as it shows a couple of dead on shots that look like fourth wall breaking.
