DescriptionA Bruce McCorkindale commission: a re-creation of Reed Crandall's illustration used in EDGAR RICE BURROUGHS: MASTER OF ADVENTURE by Richard Lupoff. Mixed media on 13 X 20" pebble board. Most of the tones in ERB's face are with a Stabilo pencil. Bruce did more marker than usual in places (Pitt and one by Winsor & Newton) because it gave a more "drybrushy" feel on the pebble board.Social/Sharing |

The iconic image used by many ERB fans to show the man and his many contributions is done here with the care and attention to detail for every highlight shown. As you have stated, it must have taken a bit of experimentation and reverse engineering just to figure how to approach all the elements as the original.
