Description

FATAL ATTRACTIONS - X-Travaganza

This page ticks a lot of huge boxes. First of all getting a piece of FATAL ATTRACTIONS saga and this is right after Wolverine gets his adamantium viciously ripped out by Magneto. He is on the table with Prof X trying to get his mind and body to stabilize after this horrific incident. So many great moments in this page, Prof X entering the mindscape of Wolverine, team shot of X-Men huddled around Moira, amazing banter from Jubilee and Kitty (these two each having a very close father-daughter like relationship with him), Kitty mentioning the very recent loss of Illyana, and Scott having flashbacks of Jean turning into Phoenix when trying to hold Blackbird together like she did with the shuttle.

Another big tick is getting a page from Kubert’s amazing run, and a page from his first work at that. Tied into the awesome story from Hama, inking from Farmer (Green and/or Pennington) and lettering from Brosseau.

The book and FATAL ATTRACTIONS saga was prime time for my interest in the X books, the story and art across a bunch of the books really opened up my eyes to the other series.

The dialogue alone makes this truly metal uncanny! You can reread this over and over and enjoy it just as much everytime. Congrats!

Pretty key issue of the series and one of the most iconic as it is often featured on price guides throughout the 90's.  Everything about it has a nostalgic hold on a generation of readership.

I miss the days of these epic x-overs. Truly a great page from one of the most memorable issues of the 90s. Congrats!

Very cool page from a very memorable issue, nice acquisition, James! I agree with Nash of the Titans above. I love the dialogue, though I'm not sure it's for the same reason as he does. On the left hand side of the page, the dialogue is strong and builds the tension, but in what I assume is unintentional, the dialogue on the right side gets funny pretty quickly. I mean, it's bad enough that a veteran team member like Kitty sounds like she's mentally falling apart and that the rookie and youngest member Jubilee has to tell her off. But literally the very next second after telling off a teamate for their "loser mentality", the on agan/off again spineless Cyclops does the VERY SAME THING Kitty just did! 😅

Hama should've written in an extra inset panel right at the bottom showing Jubilee slapping Cyclops' face, shouting Cher's classic "Snap out of it!" line from Moonstruck.

Hard to top getting many checkboxes checked with a piece!  Great example from Kubert's X run, and from the start?!  Suh-weet!  Love how he mixes these splashy shots with storytelling.  A true master at that.  Congrats, man!

A huge "snikt" to my W#75 comrade. Great page from a great story! This moment definitely helped turn the tension up to 11. The separate reflection page is a cool extra as well. Congrats.
