Description

Dark Reign: Fantastic 4 was a great miniseries that served as a preview/prelaunch for Hickman's epic run on that title. Here's a fun moment where we follow a repurposed Doombot to the room in the Baxter Building where it and some H.E.R.B.I.E.s are constructing The Bridge! The Bridge is the device Reed builds that allows him to view other universes, and eventually meet other versions of himself.

The Sean Chen faces are so illustratively styled and the thin sparse lines for the setting and Herbie bots are also deceptively detailed and stunning.

Great page from this awesome series. 'The Bridge' would have long-reaching effects on all of Hickman's Marvel work after this point; not only in 'Fantastic Four', but especially in 'New Avengers' (leading up to 'Secret Wars'). Great shot of the family left out of Reed's plans (Sue looks less than pleased or surprised that they're having to play 'catch up' on Reed's latest project), and it's all fun and games until you have a H.E.R.B.I.E sporting a Doctor Doom mask, amirite? Very nice dramatic beat - great score!
