Description

An unusual piece - The original illustration was published as the paperback cover of Great Balls of Fire: The History of Sex in Science Fiction Illustration by Harry Harrison (Pierrot Publishing, 1977).

However, this concept was done many years later when Jim repainted the background at the request of Glynn Crain.

Now that brings back memories! I never saw Jim's various prelims in person, he just sent sent me digital images or photos and I chose from among the reproductions of the prelims. Hard to believe that was 25 years ago!

Out of curiosity, this prelim is 1996, but the Heritage auction suggests a 2002 re-dux. Does Heritage have the wrong year?

I told Jim I may buy it pack someday and get the original member painting back in... :)

I found it hard to believe Glynn got the background painted over. If you do not like the painting, or part of it.( a big part admittedly. lol) you should not buy it. I hate censorship. Nice prelim though.
