I'm sure that probably the last thing you expected to see here was a quote from a Tennessee Williams play. But that quote is certainly appropriate here as Hercules, while on his quest to complete his 12 labors, sees a procession of Roman centurions and decides to ask them for food and shelter for the night. Remember, there are no Motel 6's in the days of yore, and even demigods need their beauty sleep.

But the lead centurion is as welcoming to Herc as you are to those guys standing at intersections asking for spare change. But he goes one step further and decides to use his spear like a staff to take a wack at the son of Zeus. That's always a recipe for disaster, and as you might imagine, fisticuffs ensue as Herc decides to dole out some major asskickery to the soldiers assembled. Fortunately, there are no casualties save for an oak tree that made the mistake of being within arm's length of Herc when he's ready to fight an army. You think tree huggers don't know how to fight? Those Roman centurions did, and found out they were wrong the hard way!

The reimagining and redrawing of this page is by one of my go-to artists for well over a decade now, the great Luke McDonnell! Luke's credits include lengthy stints as the artist on SUICIDE SQUAD -- his name is in the end credits of both Suicide Squad movies -- as well as IRON MAN, HAWKWORLD, DAREDEVIL, JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA, and a bunch of other stuff. So when I decided to do a project chronicling the 12 Labors of Hercules by commissioning 12 artists, it was a no-brainer that he'd be one of them.
