DescriptionOrigin page of Frank Castle/The Punisher...from the historic issue #1 of Punisher War Journal (1988).Plots from Carl Potts (pun intended) with finishes and inks by Jim Lee. Along with Mike Zeck and Klaus Janson, I love Jim Lee's detailed version of the Punisher. I like how Jim used heavy inks in the upper panels, and much lighter inks in the Origin flashback bottom panel. Checkout the breaking news that Alpha Flight is breaking up, on the front page of the Daily Bugle!! The cherry on top of this OA sundae is Jim Lee's sketch of Maui island with a lone palm tree on the bottom border. At the 2017 Hawaii Aloha Con, I was fortunate to trade several pages for this one with Alika (owner of Maui Comics). You gotta check out his store if you are ever in the neighborhood. Great page Jordan, but I wonder what else was going on in the Marvel Universe in 1988 that Lee nodded to with the mokele-mbembe headline? Or perhaps he was planning to go cryptid hunting in the Congo? Hmmm...

Very cool, Jordan! I do like how in that last panel they went with less rendering for the flashback. Congrats, man!

A wonderful page from this classic, first issue. I don't know what you gave up for it Jordan, but when you trade away multiple pieces to acquire just one, usually those trades work out really well for the person receiving the single piece!

Genius that Jim Lee put in the "End of the Candian Super-Team". It being a reference to the Alpha Flight creative team of Lee, Milgrom and Mantlo writing breaking up after Alpha Flight #64.
