Description

This was one of the drawings that I had lost out on due to my hope that the owner would drop the price after no one was willing to pay what he was asking. I eventually learned that it had been bought by a dealer from Florida and that it was for sale. I called the dealer right before the Basmajian auction of animation art in December 1984, and he agreed to bring it to the auction where I would buy it. Unfortunately, I spent all of my money at the auction, but I told him I would send a check after I returned to L.A. Of course, I still didn't have any money, but I borrowed it from one of the secretaries at my law firm -- who was also a good friend. So, everything worked out, although I ultimately had paid exactly the amount that had originally been asked for the drawing.
