DescriptionAs the last of the Rumble pages disappear, I feel very fortunate that I was able to make it under the wire and pick up a cool example of James's beautiful architectural stylings, bold inking, dramatic on-page lettering, and (let’s be honest here) Lerna, the six-headed Hydra. :)I love the bold, thick-lined inking on Rathraq / Asura here, coupled with the almost feathered touch everywhere else. In one of the many fun narrative twists in this series, Lerna’s doting owner, Asura, deliberately died so he could slip his soul into Rathraq's true body (the hulking brute here) and use it as his own... only to find Lerna can no longer stand to be near him, wearing the skin of their mortal enemy... Pathos, drama, and Hydra in this lovely Harren Rumble page. Thank you once more for the heads up, J H, and thank you very sincerely, Felix! Social/Sharing |

The Gods of Lightning Fast Reflexes were with you, Jason! Harren gem here -- I'm struck by the shadow effect on our protagonist's face. There's a true world weariness that Harren can express with some masterful strokes...

Thanks, always, Steve. Yeah, it's really fun to see James pack his pages and panels full of... stuff... that is all so stylistically different. The architecture is grounded and gorgeous (especially panel 1, which makes me think of some of Eric Powell's work); Rathraq / Asura's brooding countenance (and thick-lined delineation) make him feel like something plucked from a stylized gothic horror page, and Cogan feels a bit like a caricature. Just a delicious and fun visual cocktail. Thanks again, Steve (and everyone) for the comments!

It's like a Rumble sometimes, it is a wonder
Can not keep James Harren under
It's like a Rumble sometimes, it makes me wonder
How I keep scare-crowing warrior
Rathraq / Asura here
Pages sell and disappear, feathered touch everywhere
I’m under the spell, got page rejoice
Got no money to buy out, I guess, I got my choice
Bricks in the front room, hydras in the back
Lerna’s in the alley with a snap attack
I tried to get a page, but I didn't get far
'Cause the man Jason Hussa made requests for art
Don't push me
'Cause I'm close to the edge
I'm trying not to lose in death
Ah-huh-huh-huh
It's like a Rumble sometimes it is a wonder
Can not keep James Harren under

Nice page! Harren is amazing and it's also amazing how long some Rumble pages have lasted on Felix's site. Still a couple left, but not for long I bet

Very interesting style and technique. I know absolutely nothing about this, but it certainly evokes FUN!
