DescriptionHere we have an excellent page from the first issue of Legionnaires, featuring the younger batch SW6 Legion from the 5 years later era. Lot's of good Legionnaires on this page. Huge fan of Chris Sprouse, and the Legion, so I am super happy to add this to my collection. Very excited that there is a volume 2 of the 5 years later Legion Omnibus that comes out in 2022!Also have a pic of the backside of the page showing the patented Sprouse reverse image pencils to check for proportionality and layout. Still looking for a 5 years later Legion page by Giffen if anyone has any leads : ) Social/Sharing |

Thanks Aidan! Didn't mention this, but Karl's inks are killing it on this page. Annnnndd...I really like that we get the Legion Logo in one of the panels : )

I loved the pre-Zero Hour issues of Legionnaires. This is a fantastic page that you got - big congrats on adding it to your collection!

Oh man, me too! LoSH #50 (1984 series) up to Zero Hour is my sweet spot for the Legion. Lots of love for other iterations as well, but this page is definitely a very welcome addition : )

Wonderfully clean work. Sprouse said he would pencil sketch in reverse image on the back first and look through from the otherside with a light box to check proportions before drawing again on the front.

Yeah, I love that about Sprouse. It's often easy to tell if you have an inks over original pencils : ) My understanding is that he even has another initial step, in which he sketches it out first on an 8.5x11, then projects it in reverse on the back of the page and draws it there, and then uses a lightbox to draw it the final time in non-reverse (is that a word?) That dude is dedicated, he really is a modern master : )
