Description

From Fantastic Four 35 (2021).
Ben Grimm transforms into the Thing for the first time.
Paul did most of his art for this book digitally except for a few illustrations which he felt compelled to do by hand.
This art represents the top 2/3 of the page.
It was then scanned in, additional panel and colors were completed digitally.
This prelim was published in Paul's sketchbook on page 44.

Beautiful texture and depth on this piece. Paul really outdid himself! i like the original much better than the printed page. The printed page looks flat whereas the original has so much more depth to it. Congrats, Miki!

Captures the body horror and the creature emerging from the swamp feel of the scene. Very effective storytelling in just a few powerful panels.

A very beautiful page. I love that he went with the gray toned paper instead of traditional bristol.

Man, this is outstanding! You see your fair share of Banner to Hulk transformation pages but Grimm to Thing - not so much. This makes me thing we should see more! Or maybe it's all Renaud's stellar rendition. In any case, congrats!
