DescriptionEnjoyed this post-WW2 story with Professor Bruttenholm and the fledgling BPRD (sans Hellboy) investigating Nazi occult activity in occupied East Berlin. This particular scene is one of my favorite images from the series, revealing the horrifyingly grand scope of Project Vampir Stürm. A half-splash with very cool Mignola-esque technology, valves, pipes, bodies-in-jars, plus an early appearance of demon-in-child-form Varvara, head of USSR arcane studies. Compositionally interesting how the balcony rail merges with the lower panels to draw our eyes down the page. And Azaceta's dark inks are a perfect fit for this creepy storyline.Social/Sharing |

Amazing industrial design of this farm of experiments. The use of grids and tubes are fun patterns to explore as used here.
