DescriptionI don't have many strips, but my collecting has never been about quantity. Instead, I've tried to gather the strongest single examples I could afford by individual creators.
There aren't many pieces of art nowadays that make me sit upright upon discovery. Ironically, I put feelers out to a passionate Terry collector, and his reaction surprised me. He didn't seem to think much of this, pointing out that the largest panel consisted of nothing but a whopping ole' shot of some feet, and he felt it was overpriced to boot (so to speak!).
My thanks to Gianluca and Mariengela for their wonderful and friendly service, and particularly for how speedily this was dispatched to me from Italy. It was handed to DHL on a Monday, and in my hands in the USA by Friday.

I was compelled to comment on this piece after reading your description. Especially the line about gathering the strongest examples of individual creators. That has been my collecting philosophy for almost 40 years. It seems this philosohy has also served you well over the years (as proven by this most recent example). The knock on that last panel gave me a chuckle. As if you were actually paying for a drawing of feet, instead of Caniff's masterful artistry and technique (which is equally apparent in all four panels). As I've always said, it's not who or what your draw, it's HOW you draw that matters. Congratulations on this excellent and well selected Caniff example.

Gorgeous strip, the first 2 panels are fantastic. Always love Caniff final years on Terry!

Some people only collect covers and big images. Glad to see you just like art for art's sake.

Great looking daily. April Kane is a favorite of mine and those are some great images. Caniff art is always a treat to see in person. Nice addition.

I like what he does with the panel sizes; they go from large to medium to small then extra large for the punch line. Amazing control of tempo by a master! In my opinion the feet make the strip! More visual interest than 4 panels of heads. Hey, to each their own. We all see things differently and that's cool by me. Big congrats!
