Description

Take 2! Back in 2012 I was commissioned by Arnie Grieves to take an Andy Smith 9X12 blueline Supergirl head & shoulders convention sketch and to add in her arms and torso when inking it. My resolution was on the perky side, something Arnie said looked like "Dolly Parton" breasts. So in 2019 Arnie contacted me again and asked if I could give young Kara a breast reduction. Over the years I've performed inking plastic surgery quite a bit so I said no problem and started over again. I tend to be a "leg man" more than a "breast man" but I found this mission peculiarly challenging. I was able to reduce the mammaries but probably only by a cup size. Arnie was satisfied but I noticed later that I inadvertently made SG more muscular than before. She's a super powerful character but she seemed "blocky" to me, lacking the elegant and curvier traits of the female form when figure drawing, especially for a teenager. Every job is a lesson to further learn and hone your abilities and even after 30 years on a professional level I'm clearly still learning.My 11th Supergirl and I completed this job on July 10, 2019.

This is just my opinion, I prefer the 2012 version. I like how the tunic stretched to contain her chest. Sometimes she was drawn with a chest of a boy. I mean she is Supergirl! Your earlier drawing didn't make her Powergirl size. Nice work and challenging!!!!
