Description

Client Daniel Best commissioned me to recreate the 11X17 splash page opening to Black Panther v3 #30, one of the fill-ins scheduled at the time so that Sal Velluto & I could get more time for our next arc. When Daniel commissioned me Norm had suffered a major stroke but he wanted to see the results. Sadly, he passed away before I started it. I found the pencil photocopies in my studio since I save everything and the office at the time would send me even the fill-in pencils upon request for the sake of continuity. As you can see, since Norm knew he would be inking himself, he drew in the pencils loosely because he could make up for the details while inking. This meant much more differences between his inked work and my blueline recreation. I completed this commission on October 23, 2019.
