DescriptionJust how awesome can original comic art get? Check out this electrifying Jack Kirby Thor battle page, loaded with epic action, fun dialogue and an intro of its own - Back to the Bedlam on Broadway. No wonder Thor got his own title shortly after this issue. This page has four large panels of intense combat between Thor and one of his earliest and most well-known enemies, Absorbing Man. Thor barely avoids his foe’s wrecking ball in the opening panel, but Brains over brawn proves true in this case, as the Norse thunder god weathers the storm from Absorbing man’s ball and chain using his aggression against him, tricking him into wrapping it around a nearby post, and then throwing him towards a window so that he turns into glass. The page ends in a suspenseful manner, with Thor having the upper hand and ready to strike.A nice bonus on this page is the addition of summarized captions above the art itself describing the specific action in each panel below. The first caption reads “Back in town, Thor fights for his life against Absorbing Man’s renewed onslaught,” apt description for the first panel. Iconic Silver Age art pages from flagship Marvel titles by Jack Kirby are some of the hottest collectables anywhere, since their absolute uniqueness causes collectors to clamor for such outstanding examples like this one. With Thor's big screen debut a popular and critical success and the character having a major role in the upcoming Avengers film, demand for vintage art of the hero should continue to increase. The Kirby battle page echoes through time and can still be studied on how to create epic scenes and what choices can be made to effectively tell a story!

Yep. Old men (and women) with antiquated ideas about honor and principals are in full focus with these old "God of Thunder' ideals. Perhaps that is what is needed in today's fractured society.
