DescriptionBeing a big fan of Age of Reptiles in the 90s, I was excited when Dark Horse announced a series of 12 high quality prints showcasing original images based on the series. Only 4 were produced (one of which I own the original for, found in this very gallery). I was a teen but invested in all 4. They were framed and proudly displayed on the wall. After a moving, they momentarily ended in a basement, safely put away. Or so I thought. They were among the victims of a flood (which also included comics sadly). I immediately went on to replace them and found 3 over the years. The fourth one kept eluding me, of course my favorite of the 4. I even contacted Ricardo who told me he had none left. When I purchased several pieces from him in 2020, I inquired again and he magically found some back from his own copies (hence the AP). I was overjoyed and it was included in the deal. Ricardo told me he remarked the copies he had left at the time to better sold them (the "head sketch"). As you can see, he generously and spontaneously remarked it again and dedicated it to me (the "full body"). The tiny bubbles are a nice little detail as this species is a marine dino'. Many thanks to Ricardo for the remark, a nice bonus and gesture in our often over-monetized hobby. This post is my echo of Jason Hussa's Spidey head sketch to show and underline that fun can (still and always) be had in our hobby without having to spend 3 million of dollars. Social/Sharing |

Pleanty of fun, affordable art can be had. Collectors just have to widen their scope of interest. Nice, fun sketch!

Sincere congrats for rebuilding your collection of AoR prints, F M! The word "flood" is, I'd wager, one of the most feared by comic and comic art collectors, and for good reason (of course). Really happy that you managed to hunt down the 4 pieces that ended up comprising this (far too short) run of prints (these are gorgeous!). Congrats on the personalization, too - that's just all kinds of awesome!
(And it reminds me that this is another series I've been meaning to try out, based on your recommendation...)
I raise a toast to the outlandish notion of inexpensive yet beautiful and personally meaningful art! (Okay, sure, I actually DID end up paying three million dollars for the Bagley head sketch, but apart from THAT, I wholeheartedly back you, F M! ;) )

Oh, man, so sorry to hear about that flood--a nightmare of mine, too--but what a cool way to rebuild. Those remarques are so nice, especially the bubbles detail for the water dino. I'm a dinosaur lover, too. :) Great replacement piece, and a great point, too. Price point doesn't dictate happiness. Congrats!
