Incredible! But how could I expect anything less from one of the best artists of the last four decades?

Stunning page! I just wonder if it's traditionally penciled and inked or Butch used some digital process to achieve this impressive result

Looks handcrafted in person. I'm sure he used forms of reference and possibly lightboxed in areas to produce the photorealistic result. The small center circuit panel above the portrait is a pasted on stat that doesn't appear to be original art.
Butch IS a machine ;)

The two wide shots of the market at the top and bottom of the page are brilliant.

The set design and epic world building is better than anything you can see in a big budget big screen production

Love the setting and character designs! So much to look at, but it's easy to follow the action

Just looking at the pages from these super detail guys like Guice gives me carpal tunnel pain. All that wonderful Heavy Metal detail in ink. It looks great. There's just so much to see, and I dig it all. Congrats!

Incredible piece, Rick. The density of the images here (as others have put so well) is off the charts. There are easy ways out of this (more "undefined" shadows and "filler" squiggly lines, etc.), and then there's THIS approach; a photo-realistic, labor-intensive thing of beauty. Wow... And as impressive as the technique(s) is(/are), it's all done in service to the story, and creating the environment the narrative demands (while at the same time working as kind of a wide, multimedia "theme matte/frame" - like gluing comic panels or swaths and snippets of comic pages to a picture frame - to pop that beautiful, uncluttered portrait panel of Taarna out of the center of the page . Beautiful work by Mr. Guice - congrats, Rick!
