DescriptionI don't know the circumstances in which the great Leonard Starr took over the strip, long after the passing of Harold Grey -- perhaps Starr had always been a fan. I can't say that it brought Annie back to the glory days it had seen with Grey, but Starr certainly seemed to give it his all, and his mastery of light and shade with ink is on fine display in this example!Social/Sharing |

That solid black sweater is a nice visual balance to the all white cat in the first panel. The great cross hatching, suit patterns and highly rendered bricks that connect everything.
