DescriptionHere's an unfinished piece by the great Virgil Finlay. I don't know why he abandoned it, or if he finished it slightly differently. The woman is wearing a necklace with tiny snakes, and appears to be clawing at it.Social/Sharing |

This looks early? 1930's, when he was experimenting with many styles?

Could be. I'd say mid-1930's, but just a guess.

The hair done with that thick brush is quite fine. The unfinished pulpils add to a more haunting feel. Lots of symbolism associated with a snake necklace, too many to apply. Finlay has such power with the emotive face.
