MAURICE SENDAK, (AMERICAN 1928-date)

FRAMED TO 20″ x 17.5″, ART BY SIGHT IS 11.5″ X 8.5″
SIGNED BOTTOM MIDDLE SECTION BY MAURICE SENDAK

An adorable, signed, very detailed original drawing by Maurice Sendak, rendered in graphite on thick tracing paper/vellum. (The animals depicted are from his Little Bear story). Signed by Sendak at the bottom by Sendak who also labels two images �Maurice Sendak�. This piece is substantial in size and includes studies/sketches of 4 animals; two bear cubs, a fox and a prairie dog. Most of these animals appeared in the Sendak illustrated movie called �The Little Bear Movie�. Two of the animals have hand scripted notes alongside. Next to the fox is the word �Fox, (Poppy, Pete?)�, which were the names of the red foxes from �The Little Bear Movie�. The Prairie Dog has the scripted word �Prairie Dog� next to it, and the lower animals are two bear cubs.

The art is presented doubled matted with an outer linen wove mat, framed and glazed using UV glass and all archival materials.

A spectacular large detailed original drawing by Sendak. The art is in excellent condition.

The art will ship boxed, tracked and with full insurance.

This piece is SIGNED by Maurice Sendak lower right. The art is in great condition and presents beautifully. Artwork by Sendak of his main characters is very scarce!

** Maurice Sendak donated all of his original book illustrations to the Rosenbach Foundation in Philadelphia leaving very little of his original artwork available for private purchase.
