DescriptionStar Wars #1 Variant Cover. Pannini Comics variant. Watercolor painting by Greg Tocchini.I am an excited Star Wars fan as of late for many reasons! A Star Wars OA collecting goal of mine that I set pretty early on into my collecting was to own one of the published variant covers to Star Wars #1 from the 2015 Marvel Comics canon/reboot of Star Wars under Marvel/Disney. Mission accomplished with this addition! There's something magical to me about this watercolor painted piece of Yoda and his green lightsaber. Recent events in Star Wars lore also reminded me how much I love this piece for obvious reasons and how lucky I am to be it's caretaker. It's really enjoyable to see Yoda force levitating battle droids/clankers from the prequel era in this image as well, which I always appreciate callbacks to in Star Wars storytelling. Thanks to Nicholas @ Chiaroscuro for the help on securing this one! Song Choice: "Yoda's Theme" by John Williams Social/Sharing |

Really cool Yoda piece. Been a fan of Greg's since the CrossGen days, so it's been nice to see him develop over an almost 20 year period. His "Last Days of American Crime" was an eye opener in terms of going from pen and ink work to a combination of traditional and digital drawing and painting. This piece came 6 years later and shows the continuance of that development and experimentation. Congrats, man!

Classic looking Yoda here, man. I love his calmer expression. I got it, but was always thrown off when I saw images of Yoda, movies and otherwise, with more emotional expressions. Slight upward perspective is a good choice here, too. I like the looser, more organic colors, and Yoda's green just pops doesn't it?! Congrats, Kavi!

A cool cover and I love Tochhini's art. With the title, before clicking on thel ink in my daily update, I was thinking no f$#@ng way you got the Chaykin cover from the original series...I was right on that account.

Beautiful piece, Kavi! I love the fact that Yoda's lightsaber is still ignited here, as though Yoda was chopping through wave after wave of battle droids, took a look around and thought, "You know what? Screw this," dropped the saber and just force grabbed everyone in the room. He's clever like that. Serious, big time congrats on accomplishing this worthy goal (and to do so with such a fine and striking piece)! Congrats, Kavi!

Yoda looking serene and yet potent here. I really enjoy Tocchini's vision and the looseness of his figures. Nice pick up!

What goes up, must come down, yes? :YodaLaugh: This is fantastic watercolor work. I really like how Yoda has his own color tone, so it really pops off the earth toned page. This is a really nicely set cover. Congrats on knocking this off of your wish list!

If you squint when looking at this - Yoda looks like he is wearing a pair of shades. Perfect for the strobe lights and dancing robots at the rave behind him. Move over DMC! Congrats Kavi on a fine pick up with really great colors and fun composition!!
