DescriptionPublished 1995.Animal Man first appeared in Strange Adventures #180 published in 1965 and had several guest appearances in other DC comics. He did not gain his own series until 1988 and the series ran for 89 issues. I usually buy art based on a combination of the following factors: character, story, artist and overall art appearance. This one I purchased on overall art appearance only. I have not read or followed Animal Man and I confess before buying this page, I had never heard of either of the artists. Social/Sharing |

I haven't read Animal Man either and I feel guilty haha, but this is a wonderful splash.

The early years of the title when Grant Morrison was the writer are definitely worth checking out. This page is pretty spectacular, although I admit that I'm also not familiar with Fred Harper. The man is certainly talented.

Don't think I've ever heard of Harper, though I have vague recollection of seeing inking credits here andthere for the name "Temujin", without the first name. Either way, it's quite the spectacular looking piece of art. The male figure in particular is beautifully delineated and I'm guessing the gorgeous, scratchy yet precise crosshatching is likely more to do with Temujin's style than Harper's. Regardless of that artistic mystery though, it's a great looking piece.

For me few things exceed the excitement of collecting a great piece of art from and artist and title I was previously unfamiliar with. You did good. Congrats.

Encapsulates man's place in the universe with a stunning image! The ribbons of time and space tie us to reality as we can only hope to comprehend.
