Description

Disney WWII Insignia Drawing for Bombardment Group by Hank Porter (Walt Disney, c. 1942-45). This brilliant piece captures the spirit of the unit for which it was created, which was likely a bombardment group in the United States military during World War II. The image depicts a bull or buffalo ferociously warning its enemies of its arrival as it stands atop a bomb with a lit fuse. Bombardment units were key to the success of the United States in WWII, and these units grew steadily in size and importance throughout the war. This insignia was created by Hank Porter at Disney free-of-charge, as Walt Disney wanted to help the war effort in whatever ways he was able. This particular piece was originally acquired directly from Hank Porter's estate. The image-trimmed drawing is rendered with graphite and blue and yellow pencil on onionskin paper measuring about 8.25" x 9.5". This excellent insignia drawing is in Very Good condition, with minor handling and edge wear, including a few small creases.
