DescriptionFor Valentine's Day I may as well direct a little love to our little OA community too. It was time I jumped on the party train and commissioned a piece by CAF's own Eranga!Of course it was to be Star Wars, but what character? I tossed out a couple ideas and I think the concept of a Lady Vader-type figure with a Force whip was too good for him to pass up. Lumiya it was. And he killed it! Social/Sharing |

So this is not an established character in the Star Wars mythos? If not, she should be, cuz it's a nice design!

Original Marvel Star Wars character from the 1980s, who was later featured in some of the expanded universe novels. She started off as a rebel pilot during the Simonson run, revealed to be an Imperial agent, thought to be killed by Luke, then returned all cyborgy and badass. So a legacy character who is not currently canon (whatever that means these days, not that I pay much attention to such things).

Great piece! Nice Eranga (and Jeff). Also - speaking of whips, Love how they are brining the saber whip concept back now in High Republic too with Vernestra Roh's character!

Trying hard to control my art
I look over to Eranga
Eye to eye it needs no words at all
Slowly now we begin to move
Lumiya lashes deeper into you
Soon there's two more standing still in time
Jedi read my mind, you'll see
It's crazy so good
Whip me once and you'll know Sith's true
I always wanted any art like this
It's all brand new
You'll feel it in my whips
You'll feel it in my whips
Because It's crazy so good
Commission and you'll know it's true
Eranga renders everyone like this
It's all brand new
You'll feel it in my bliss
I'm crazy for you
Crazy force you

I started regularly reading Star Wars comics right when Lumiya arrived on the scene, so this hits the nostalgia sweet spot for me. Eranga does his usual amazing work here. A great commission subject by a great artist!

The very first interior page I bought was Star Wars issue 88 page 20, just to get an example from her first appearance (really reappearance but we didn't know it was Shira yet) in the Lumiya armor. Canon or not, the OG Marvel series is still my favorite Star Wars lore.

Like that twisting pose - you don't see that very often! Nice depth with that corridor, and some sweet colors, AND the silhouettes on the bottom are a nice touch! My man E doin' his thing! Congrats!

And I finally got to meet him at SDCC. I'm sure this won't be my last.
