DescriptionThe best page in the book (IMHO!!!) Yeates demonstrates his mastery of the medium, using pen and ink wash to create a phenomenal scenes sequence.Take a look at the underwater sequences Tala escaping a sea monster. Then the relaxed scenes on the shore that are like pictures. Just incredible! The page is just so masterfully layed out. Social/Sharing |

That's really nice ink brushwork to show the curvature of the monster. The duo tone shading is splendidly applied to bring depth where just pen and ink wouldn't be enough. The way it fades at the top against the ceiling surface of the water is very cinematic.

Yeates' illustrative style is always a pleasure to look at. But doing this on a duo-shade board really puts it over the top. Beautiful!

Beautiful page! Super figures, environments, storytelling, and staging, and I love his use of ink wash. I discovered Yeates only recently when I picked up the heavily illustrated Tarzan of the Apes book from ERB Press. Really nice
