DescriptionHere's a neat pickup from episode #3 of The Dueling Dealers of Comic Art (February 2021).Marvel published a monthly calendar in Marvel Age in 1992, featuring a particular character or theme alongside important dates for the month. Sometimes these would appear on an interior page, inside cover, or on the back cover, such as this. This entry from May 1992 celebrates the 30th Anniversary of the Hulk, with images featuring the early Kirby-ish Hulk, classic Trimpe/Buscema era Hulk, Joe Fixit and the "current" (at the time) intelligent Hulk who was then leading The Pantheon. Here's what makes me feel really old -- it's now 2022 and we're soon going to be celebrating the Hulk's 60th Anniversary! Those 30 years went by fast!! The top half by Darren Auck is original art, while the images within the calendar are stats. I assume Darren Auck also inked this, since there's no credited inker. Social/Sharing |

Sweet smorgasborg of calendar Hulk pin ups on one image: shirtless Hulk, tank top Hulk, dapper dressed Hulk, and revealing torn clothing Hulk. Also cool are the creator birthdays!

This was a good pickup, Ted. Original Hulk and Savage Hulk are my favourites, though Fix it Hulk made for fun, enjoyable stories for a while too. I can't say I was a fan of Wife Beater Hulk though, at least not visually. Very fun, man!

Well, now I feel old, too. Thanks a lot! ;) I used to pick up fanfare, too, and I really enjoyed when they put those themed calendars in there. What a great nostalgic pick up. This one brings me back, too. I think my favorite is the Sgt fury, but that Pinhead addition at the end of the month is pretty freaky/cool. Thanks for sharing, it's a really neat pick up. Congrats!

Seeing this brings back all sorts of nostalgic feelings as I was a regular reader of Marvel Age once upon a time. I regret that I got rid of most of them in mid-1990s as I figured the stories in them were old news at that point. Now I'm sure seeing them would bring back great memories, just as seeing this piece does.
