DescriptionThis was Bob Powell's last published work, a regular 2-page feature, the only comic, I think, in a teen magazine "Teen Life," written by Bessie Little, who I believe was the magazine's editor. "Teena-a-go-go" ran in 1965 and 66, and Powell also drew a short-lived syndicated strip of Teena. Why did Powell draw this unlikely assignment? Never really a superhero artist, was he having a hard time finding work in the superhero-mad 60s (though he did some superhero work for Marvel, I think)? Or did Teen Life just pay a really good rate? I prefer to believe the latter, especially since Powell really put a lot of work and care into these pages, using charcoal-like shading and white highlights; Powell really delivered the goods on mod fashions, surely one of the main attractions to the magazine's readers!
