Description

Page 2 of this 2 page episode, of Bob Powell's final comics work, published in teen fan magazine "Teen Life" in 1966. The large open panel of Teena in a fetching teddy is the highlight of the page, a compositional technique that reminds me of 70s shojo manga (the so-called "style panels"). The strong black outline of the figure is really striking.

I'm just nuts about Powell's shading technique in these pages, and his attention to detail. The individual portraits even of minor characters are all very distinct....

Looks like the figure was made to be cut out like a paper doll with that thick outline. Fashions and glamor of 60's good girl where Powell can shine!
