Description

DC was ahead of its time with the maxi-series it launched in the 80s. Feels like most things are maxi-series these days. And few of them lit my imagination as much as Sun Devils. Even active collectors at the time could be excused for not remembering this series.

But, I loved it. Not only was it my introduction to Dan Jurgens but it had just enough grit to seem more mature than the average titles at the time. And, it was a great mix of powered characters and sci-fi goodness.

Am especially excited to have this page because, like most people, my favorite character in the series was the cigar chomping Scyla.

This page is huge (not twice up but good sized) so the scan cuts off a bit of the art all the way around.

I won this page through a Comic Connect auction.

Did you ever read "The Last Sun Devil" story Jurgens and Mitchell did in Superman?

SciFi comics are awesome. Terrific how the first panel expands to hold all the others on the page. The vastness of outer space!

Kirby dotted Galaxy is vast! The screen tones are fantastically used . The action is modern and well put together to tackle adventures in space.
