Hal and Guy fight the entity-possessed Guardians. The Guardians slowly gain the advantage, forcing Guy to finally brandish the Power Gauntlet. However, Krona appears and unleashes a powerful blast that knocks Hal and Guy unconscious.

Meanwhile, Sinestro remains trapped in the Book of the Black. In its pages, Sinestro is still the Green Lantern of Korugar. He is attacked by a Manhunter, but Sinestro defeats it. Then, Sinestro remembers that he is no longer a Green Lantern. Enraged, Sinestro tears through the book's pages and sees the New Guardian's memory. Sinestro sees Saint Walker spending time with his family, Larfleeze's childhood and Atrocitus attacking a Green Lantern. Finally, he gets to a page where he is trapped in a cage with Indigo-1. Sinestro is attacked by Indigo-1, who at that time was a violent and aggressive person. Indigo-1 claims that Abin Sur imprisoned her, but Sinestro does not care. He then escapes to another page.

Then, Sinestro arrives to a page where he meets Krona. He says that while Sinestro's heart is strong, his will is not. Krona then sets the page Sinestro is on fire. Krona envelops Hal and Guy in the same bandages he was wrapped in. He reveals his plan to the Earthmen. He wants them to become the new Guardians of the Universe.
