DescriptionThis is the May. Day 03. Thirty-One days of Star Wars continues...If young Anakin Skywalker is to become a Jedi he must follow the teachings of his Master, Obi-Wan Kenobi. He must also find a way to overcome his fears, including the memory of the man who killed his friend Qui-Gon Ginn, the vicious Darth Maul. Here, inside the Crystal Caves of Ilum, Anakin builds his first lightsaber. Pop Mahn and Norman Lee bring the art and Ryder Windham handles the writing chores on this Dark Horse series from 2001. Anakin building his 1st lightsbaber in front of his young master Obi-Wan is an amazing story beat to have represented in your Star Wars OA Collection. Sweet Pop Mhan!

The only time, to my knowledge, that Anakin building his lightsaber was depicted in a comic. This one was an easy pick up.

Pop Mhan! This must've been a guaranteed $2,000 page! May the 3rd be with you.

I did this experience at Disneyland. Its been some time as it was pre-covid, but I am pretty sure I was in a cave. I am going to call it a Crystal Cave. I was Obi-Ian Kenobi and was accompanied by Chloekin Skywalker my daughter. We only made one lightsaber so it was difficult going purple, but she looked so happy. I have changed the crystals out since lol. If you look at my picture it was the day we built the lightsaber. Me vs her in front of the Millenium Falcon with the original good kids lightsaber vs the experience one. Great memories and this page totally brings me back to that day. Thank you.

Brilliant picture, and amazing memory. That first time walking up to the Falcon, whew, quite the experience. My wife and I made it right before Covid, and just walking around and soaking it all in was as stellar as any of the rides. Salute to you and your Padawan!

Fabulous page! I know that I must have read this since I was very into Dark Horse's Star Wars comics back in the day, but my work-addled mind has forgotten it. One of the great things about seeing OA on CAF is that it reminds me of stories that I need to check out again, like this one.

The only part of this four issue storyline I had remembered was the space pirates. Definitely one I had to go back and revisit.

This reminds of that meme with Luke staring at the light saber and it goes through his head.

This is a Mhan’s world, this is a Mhan’s world
But page wouldn't be Wedding’s, Wedding’s without a Norman or a Maul
You see, Mhan made sabers to take us kyber the road
Mhan made the pain for Ani and Obi load
Mhan made electric light cut Grievous out of the dark
Mhan made the page for the Lucas, like Norman made the art

Amazing page, a pivotal moment in the story. Jeff, your Star Wars May showcase keeps rocking the galaxy, and it's only Week 1! Excited to see what SW treasures await! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Dino. And if all the shipping handlers deliver on time, the 31 days is going to work out. Maybe even with a couple of bonuses!
