If I remember correct, Raf worked on a concept for a prosed John Carter before the Disney version that never came to fruition.

Beautiful piece by Rafael Kayanan! It looks much more faithful to Edgar Rice Burroughs work and it's a shame that this adaptation never came into fruition. I keep holding out hope that one day an animated series for a mature audience will be made. Would love to see Genndy Tartakovsky take a shot at making a Princess of Mars series!
