DescriptionClosing out ‘80s-panel-pages-from-when-I-was-a-kid March with this wacky one from Cloak & Dagger, courtesy of Dan Lawlis and P. Craig Russell!I love Cloak and Dagger. Couple of the best characters to come out of the ‘80s – great and unique origin, design, all leading to some visually arresting stories. I have a few other C&D pieces, including the cover to this issue (https://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=1247264) by the great Bret Blevins, and thought it’d be fun to get the interior page moment depicting said cover. Cloak’s stomach’s bothering him and apparently it’s not just laughs. I thought it was kinda fun as you rarely see Cloak smile, then you got that panel of…yeah...a planet (Earth?) headed space-bike riding other dimensional alien zooming out of Cloak's cloak :) I won’t get into the story here, but safe to say, some nutty fun from writer (known more as inker extraordinaire) Terry Austin. I got my ups and downs, but definitely fortunate to have my fam, friends, and to be an active part of this hobby. Fresh in my mind in part due to picking up a big personal key earlier this month :) As Earth-dome says here in panel 5, “I AM ONE LUCKY DUDE!!!” Social/Sharing |

Panel 4 has to be one of the craziest things I've seen in a comic book. Which makes this page gold!

That's exactly what I was gonna say! Ah well.... Cloak is drawn really well and the Russell inks are really complimentary to the pencils. Nice fit.

For real, right?! The big "Uhh...what?!!" you get from that panel?! Worth the price of admission. "Gold, Jerry - gold!" ;) Thanks, Michael, and all, for the comments!

"I am one lucky dude" says it all to be a participant in this crazy hobby. Great page to represent that feeling. Congrats on this fun piece!

Look Mister, there are some rules that you've got to follow.
Yeah, what kind of rules?
First of all, keep Cloak out of the light, he hates bright light, especially sunlight, it'll kill him.
Second, don't give Cloak any water, not even to drink.
But the most important rule, the rule you can never forget, no matter how much he cries, no matter how much he begs, never feed Cloak after midnight.

What a surprising and mind boggling page!! Firmly in the "I thought I had seen everything in comic books, but I guess not" category. I mean ... Cloak laughing?!? Never thought it would happen. Never in a million years. Uh uh no way.
But then it aaaaall makes sense when a little guy with a Planet Earth head comes out of his cloak driving a flying scooter and yelling about inter dimensional warps and booty. Ah, my life makes sense again.
We already knew what happens any time we hear a bell ring. Now we know what happens when Cloak laughs.
Hahaha! Really love this one. Thank you for sharing these wonderful '80s pages with us. And yes, all of us art collectors in our fabulous community are lucky dudes!!!!

Isn't it cool when things just come together? When it all fits, it all is so clear, and you just GET it? Glad to have been of help, Paul ;) Thanks, man!

Who said, "It's no fun being an illegal alien"? (Oh, right, it was Genesis. Guess they were wrong... in this case, anyway.)

What a great pick up, K! Love the inks here; especially panel 5, with the lush smoke cloud (?) that (along with the earth-headed guy - do we ever find out his name?) provide extra-EXTRA dimensionality! "I am one lucky dude!": truer words were never said, especially in the context of being part of this excellent community of wonderful hobbyists (although Cloak's, "Wh-Wh-What wuz THAT?!" land a very close second here :) ). Time marches on, of course, but it was fun to ignore that a bit with your fantastic March gallery adds. Looking forward to whatever April May hold! :)

Gromitz is his name! Matches, I'd say. And yeah, thought I'd close out the month with some zaniness. I mean, if you can't do it in comics... :)
Thanks, man, and glad you enjoyed the '80s adds!

Now that is a moment Pepto didn't conceive of in their commercial. WAH-HOO! Lol, I got a great chuckle out of that panel. And I'm with Paul, Cloak laughing? That's a moment you just don't see. And I love those Russell inks. Great nostalgia page, Kahlil. Congrats!
