Love this four issue run of the movie tie in and Jim Baikie's work on it.

Jim's use of colour is really nice. His style mostly lets the paint do the heavy lifting and the ink is just there for visual outline and heavy shadow. I suspect that having the less than subtle boundary of the outline makes the painting job a lot simpler for him. He also knows when to drop the outline to give an abstract background depth, or in some of the other pages even to give panels a different and altogether hazy feel as if you are witnessing a hallucination.

Definitely one of those artists whom I would have loved to have met in person. I wasn't really into OA until it was too late to take that opportunity, I had tried contacting him years ago but I got a reply from one of his relatives who said his illness had progressed to the point where he no longer worked. It was at that point that I read a bit more about him online, and found out he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease after completing this run in 1990 which at the time I was not aware of. Those familiar with his work will know he still carried on working for many years and even managed to bag an Eisner along the way!
