Description15" x 10" image area. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Ghost Rider #32 Page 27 original art (Marvel Comics, 1978). Don Perlin and Rick Bryant. This is one of the closest images of Johnny Blaze I can recall seeing in the comics. The details of his costume are fantastic, as are the large images of the demonic cowboys. The page opens with an awesome transformation sequence of Ghost Rider turning back to Johnny Blaze as he battles skeleton demons that were trying to take him. The bounty hunter is not so fortunate with a cool perspective of him roped and being dragged straight to Hell. Taking Ghost Rider to a ghost town, the Bounty Hunter explains that he was contracted to retrieve John Blaze's soul. After keeping back hordes of hell as his time runs out, the Bounty Hunter tells how he came to be in this state: He explains that he was once an unethical bounty hunter in the wild west known as Lamuel Haskill, who's habit of shooting an opponent in the back came back to him when he was shot and killed from behind by the brother of one of his last bounties. He then made a deal with the devil to become his own personal bounty hunter when needed. However before Haskill can kill Ghost Rider, his time runs out and demonic cowboys arrive and take him away, even though Johnny tries to stop them, they manage to overpower him and leave with Haskill as their prisoner. All the mystical and supernatural works of Marvel opened up a new level of sophistication in storytelling just as Perlin was hitting his stride! Even if the villain is Eddie Haskell, this mix of superhero, western, and horror made this page a potion of Marvel mania!
