Oh, is that Validus' origin? He was created by Darkseid? I had long assumed he was simply a long time foe of the Legion, from long before the Great Darkness Saga. I always thought he looked really cool, so it's it's pretty neat to see a page featuring him on a rampage and in every panel!

In Legion of Super-Heroes vol. 2, Annual #3 (1984), unknown to anyone, Saturn Girl was pregant with twins and during the delivery, Darkseid secretly kidnapped the second infant and used his power to radically transform the child and send him years into the past, where he would encounter the Legion as Validus, unrecognized by his parents or anyone else. (see additional images)

Comment up in the middle of the night
Like the open sun sears his sight
You were News Holodata filming
It was key that Validus a little hurting
Darkseid that I couldn't even sleep
So many pages I couldn't keep
Promised myself I wouldn't weep
One more promise I couldn't keep
It seems just one Swan helps me now
I'm in too deep
There's no way out
This time I have really need eyes on my face
Runaway Brain never going back
Mahlstedt on the inks on track
Seems like I should lumbering somewhere
Somehow I'm fighting Legionnaires
Can you help me remember how to smile?
Make it somehow all seem Swan's style
How on earth did we get invaded?

Stunning art but the inner dialogue is heart wrenching . It throws a long time Legion foe into a totally different light

Wow, that sounds really cool. Thanks for the background on that, Miki, including the extra page scan. But, did Saturn Girl herself not know she was delivering twins? Also, to this day, has any Legionnaire ever found out what happened or are they all still completely in the dark about who they're fighting every time Validus shows up?

Today's page will be the birth page with Saturn Girl and her child.
As for the other question, that will be revealed in some of the pages I will post later this week.
