DescriptionAll the crap Aquaman had been getting lately on CAF made me want to track down a powerful, classic, image of The King of The Seven Seas!This was published as a Double-Page Splash in the DC Universe Holiday Special from 2008 (the art is actually on A3 paper, so more like a vertical Splash I guess). It's a take on The Three Wise Men or Three Kings Christmas story, with Aquaman as one of the kings. I think this image is right up there with the Alex Ross splash from JLA: Liberty and Justice or the Jim Lee Megalodon from Nu52 Justice League in terms of bad-assery. Social/Sharing |

I think that most people who give Aquaman crap have never read an Aquaman comic. This is a cool image of Aquaman being a badass hero. There's a reason why he was a Super Friend through so many incarnations of the team!

Very nice Churchill pencil work.
(Any character being good simply depends on a good creative team ;)

Holiday Special? Am I looking at this wrong? Is Aquaman saving Jesus's mom from bad guys using a giant squid?!!

No. It's a modern setting, but is pretty much a re-telling of that parable with Aquaman as one of the three Kings.
